Screen Brightness

Day and night are set separately — and setting them too far apart is the mistake that has the screen jumping every time you pass a bridge.

SCREEN BRIGHTNESS

ATA Taximeter  –  Irish market firmware  –  Pulsar Europe  –  PRIMUS RS-01 & S-01  –  2026

NOTE

Two settings, not one

The meter reads the light around it and applies a different brightness by day than by night. That means the setting you make depends on the light you are sitting in when you make it. Set it once on a bright afternoon and once after dark, and you will have both ends covered properly.

Button layout

The meter has four buttons. On the RS-01 they run 1, 2, 3, 4 from left to right, Button 1 on the far left and Button 4 on the far right. On the S-01 they run top to bottom, Button 1 at the top and Button 4 at the bottom. On both models, Buttons 1 and 2 move back and forth through the menu, Button 3 is enter, and Button 4 is back.

The mistake to avoid

Because the two are independent, you can end up with a very low night setting and a very high day setting. The meter will then swing hard between them every time the light changes — under the Port Tunnel, into a multi-storey, out from under a bridge on a bright day. Keep the two within sight of each other and the screen settles down.

STEPS

  1. From "FOR HIRE", press Button 3 to open the menu.
  2. Press Button 1 or Button 2 until "SETTINGS" appears.SETTINGS
  3. Press Button 3 to enter the settings sub-menus.
  4. Press Button 1 or Button 2 until "SET BRIGHTNESS" appears.SET BRIGHTNESS
  5. Press Button 3 to confirm.
  6. Press Button 1 or Button 2 to raise or lower the brightness. The screen changes as you go.
  7. Press Button 3 to save.saved

WHEN TO SET IT

CONDITIONSWHAT YOU ARE SETTING
Bright daylightYour day level. Set it high enough to read through a windscreen in low winter sun, not so high it glares.
After darkYour night level. Bright enough for the passenger to read the fare, dim enough that it is not reflecting in the windscreen at two in the morning.

If the screen looks faint or patchy at any setting

That is not a brightness problem. Run the display test first, and if segments are missing or the screen is uneven, ring Pulsar Europe on +353 87 283 5120 — we have installers nationwide.
